Network Access Planning

Our Network Access Planning engineers assess, coordinate, and sanction the planned release of assets from the National Electricity Transmission System (NETS), for maintenance and commissioning of new connections and equipment.

We use AC and DC transmission system analysis tools to optimise efficient and economic access to the transmission system, and ensure that throughout all of the outage scenarios, the transmission system continues to operate safely within the Security and Quality of Supply Standards.

When all outage planning activities are completed, a fully operable outage plan is handed over to the Electricity Network Control Centre (ENCC) to deliver in real-time.

NAP KPIs

To ensure Transmissions Owners (TOs) have a fully transparent outage planning processes, the TO's publish a series of annual Key Performance Indicator’s (KPI's) on their respective websites to monitor outage planning performance and outage delivery. These KPI’s have been developed in collaboration with all GB onshore TO's and NESO following feedback from customers and stakeholders across GB. TOs have produced these KPIs using data from the current outage database as provided by NESO where available.

To further improve visibility and transparency around KPI performance, links to each TO’s KPI published are outlined below. These links support ongoing performance monitoring and promote collaboration between TOs, NESO, customers, and stakeholders.
