Biomethane Report
This insight report explores the benefits of biomethane in the energy system, what factors need to be considered for a scale-up in production, and what decisions and actions are needed to maximise the value from biomethane.
AFRY Hydrogen Report
This independent AFRY report explores the case for a national hydrogen network. The report finds that while benefits vary under different assumptions, a hydrogen network in Great Britain delivers system cost savings across most scenarios. Analysis shows it could also have wider benefits including reduced wind curtailment, lower electricity transmission build-out and reduced need for long-duration energy storage. It also could deliver greater use of electrolysis for hydrogen production rather than methane reformation with carbon capture.
Together, these publications form part of our wider whole-system evidence base, helping UK Government, the regulator and industry understand how today’s operational realities connect to the long-term decisions needed to support a secure, affordable and clean energy system.
