Balancing Programme Forecasting Focus Group - 11 November 2026
We look forward to welcoming you to our Balancing Programme Forecasting Focus Group on the 11 November from 11:00 - 12:30. In the session we will:
- Reminder of our Forecasting Strategy/Delivery, review of the Goals, highlighting key areas of progress including system developments
- Discuss our new National Demand forecasting models, how they will be used, and the anticipated impact
- Provide insight into a Grid Supply Point (GSP) innovation project exploring the factors influencing GSP outturns & the accuracy of these
- Run two interactive breakouts:
- We want to hear from you on how you currently use the forecasts published by NESO ahead of planned changes, and what ‘informative’ forecasts mean to you, to help us build out the information we provide
- We also want to learn and understand from other organisations the approaches they are taking to enable effective modelling of small, embedded generation
Further information on the interactive breakouts will be shared ahead of the session to support effective engagement.
All are welcome to attend the session, but we believe it will be of most interest to our colleagues from DNOs and academia, as well as those with an interest in the forecasts NESO produce.
