The window for customers to submit evidence for the next steps of connections reform has now closed as of 11:59pm on Tuesday 26 August 2025. Distribution Network Operators (DNOs) have also completed their evidence gathering.

Reforming the grid connections process is a multi-year initiative that will allow clean energy projects to connect faster, creating a better environment for the £40bn annual private investment opportunity for clean power and infrastructure across Great Britain.

What happens now?

With the evidence submission window closed, we’ll start informing customers of the outcome of initial checks on all submitted evidence from Thursday 28 August. Further information on initial checks can be found here.

Should any project fail initial checks, customers will receive an email with detailed feedback and clear instructions for the resubmission process.

Next steps for customers

Customers who pass the initial checks will automatically proceed to the next phase without needing further action. However, if a submission fails the initial check, customers will have the opportunity to resubmit evidence:

  1. Stage 1: Customers have four working days to resubmit evidence via the Portal. If you have any questions at this stage, contact us immediately.

  2. Stage 2: We’ll respond to resubmissions with a final decision within four working days.

  3. Stage 3: If you disagree with the outcome of our final decision, you can participate in our new faster complaints process.
