Sheena Mackay joins NESO as a new Non-Executive Director

On 1 April, Sheena Mackay will be joining the NESO Board as a Non-Executive Director. She will also take over as Chair of the Remuneration Committee when Paul Plummer steps down from the Board later in the year.

Sheena has over 20 years’ experience of leading global HR functions across a range of complex, regulated, global, industrial and healthcare FTSE 100 and 250 companies. She's worked most recently with Smiths Group plc and previously for Aggreko plc, BBA Aviation plc and SSL International plc. She's also a Non-Executive Director on the Boards of Porvair plc, Lords Group Trading plc and Kings College Hospital University Foundation Trust.

Paul Plummer will be stepping down as a Non-Executive Director and Chair of the Remuneration Committee at the end of June 2026, having come to the end of his contractual term.

Paul was appointed as one of our inaugural directors on 1 April 2019, the day our former organisation, National Grid Electricity System Operator (ESO) was established as legally separate from National Grid. Paul has been key to the establishment of NESO and the setting up of, and subsequently Chairing, our first Remuneration Committee.
