Gas Options Advice Methodology

We’ve published our Gas Options Advice (GOA) methodology, marking a significant milestone in the strategic planning of Great Britain's energy networks. As the third deliverable in the gas network planning cycle, the GOA plays a crucial role in transforming the energy system to meet the challenges of energy security, affordability and climate change.

The GOA methodology outlines a comprehensive approach for evaluating investment proposals for the National Transmission System (NTS). It considers security standards, gas supply and demand requirements, and entry and exit capacity obligations. The methodology also considers proposals from both National Gas Transmission (NGT) and NESO, ensuring a thorough and unbiased assessment of options.

The GOA will provide detailed analyses of investment proposals, focusing on economic, environmental, social, and deliverability aspects.
