Commemorating Armistice Day

Poppy

On Armistice Day, we reflect on the invaluable contributions of the armed forces to our communities and infrastructure. Last November, their expertise was crucial when handling an unexploded WWII bomb near energy lines in East Tilbury, reminding us of the critical partnership between the energy sector and the military.

The situation was expertly managed by the armed forces, alongside police and industry partners, ensuring the bomb was safely detonated with minimal disruption, demonstrating the important collaboration required to keep our infrastructure safe.

Supporting the Armed Forces community is a key commitment to us at NESO. Through our SeRVe Employee Resource Group, we foster an inclusive environment for veterans, Reservists, and military families.

As a signatory of the Armed Forces Covenant, we join over 10,000 organisations in pledging fair treatment for service members and their families. This commitment has earned NESO a Silver Award, recognising our support for military personnel through flexible policies and acknowledging the valuable skills they bring to the workforce.

The celebration of Armed Forces Week earlier this year highlighted the dedication and resilience of the armed forces, including Reservists who balance civilian careers with military duties. Reserves Day on 25 June honoured these individuals for their vital contributions to national security, while Armed Forces Day on 28 June celebrated all members of the Armed Forces community.
