In our quest to create a truly inclusive and supportive workplace, we're thrilled to announce our new partnership with Men for Inclusion. This collaboration marks a significant step forward in our mission to ensure every employee feels valued, respected, and included.
Who are Men for Inclusion?
Founded in 2021 by Mark Freed and Gary Ford, Men for Inclusion addresses the slow progress in inclusion across industries. They focus on engaging men and senior leaders in the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DE&I) journey, emphasising inclusive leadership and transformative workplace policies. Their goal is to bridge the gap between diversity metrics and the lived experiences of employees to foster true cultural change.
Why this matters
Last year, a survey by Womens Utilities Network (WUN) highlighted ongoing challenges for women in the workplace, including being overlooked in meetings and not being taken seriously in their roles. Half of the respondents reported being treated differently from their male counterparts. This highlighted the urgent need for environments where women can thrive equally, especially in the energy industry.
By partnering with Men for Inclusion, we're committed to creating such an environment. We believe that when our people can be their true selves, they perform at their best. This inclusivity is crucial to provide our workforce with an environment which promotes personal growth and development to ensure everyone has a fair opportunity to develop the skills needed on our journey of delivering a zero-carbon energy system.
