Interconnector Register

A list of interconnector projects that hold connection contracts with NESO. These include active interconnectors and future interconnector projects.

Note: The Mega Watt (MW) Total MW Import figures represent firm Transmission Entry Capacity (TEC). Moyle holds a total of 500MW TEC which is subject to operational restrictions

CUSC Definitions

Connection and Use of System Code (CUSC) Definition paragraph 9.4 EXPORT OF POWER FROM THE INTERCONNECTOR CONNECTION SITE

  • MW Import: Subject to the other provisions of the CUSC, the relevant Bilateral Connection Agreement and the Grid Code and any Operating Agreement, The Company shall accept into the National Electricity Transmission System at the connection site of an Interconnector power up to the Transmission Entry Capacity and (if any) Short-Term Transmission Entry Capacity (STTEC) and\or Limited Duration Transmission Entry Capacity (LDTEC) and\or any Temporary Received TEC less any Temporary Donated TEC for the relevant Period as specified in Appendix C to the relevant Bilateral Connection Agreement except to the extent (if any) that The Company is prevented from doing so by transmission constraints which could not be avoided by the exercise of Good Industry Practice.

CUSC Definition paragraph 9.5 IMPORT OF POWER TO THE INTERCONNECTOR CONNECTION SITE

  • MW Export: Subject to the other provisions of the CUSC, the relevant Bilateral Connection Agreement, the Grid Code and any Operating Agreement, The Company shall transport a supply of power to a Connection Site of an Interconnector through the National Electricity Transmission System up to the amount specified in the Bilateral Connection Agreement except to the extent (if any) that The Company is prevented from doing so by transmission constraints which could not be avoided by the exercise of Good Industry Practice by The Company.

NOTE: Following updates to CUSC paragraphs 6.30.3.2 and 6.35.2, the Interconnector Registers will include an additional column called “Gate” from 21st November,2025 indicating whether agreements are classified as Gate 1 or Gate 2. This column will be populated once agreements have been countersigned. Until that point, the field will remain blank. Please note:
1) Capacity across stages and technology types is currently presented in aggregate, which may result in duplicate entries. This will be refined as the register process evolves, with future updates aiming to split capacity by stage and technology to improve clarity and accuracy.
2) This approach ensures transparency while reflecting the current status of agreements under the Connections Reform process.
